The THS1 was our first probe-style sensor; whilst the SHT40 sensor it utilised was impressive, the waterproof probe did compromise humidity accuracy. With the subsequent THS45, we found what we consider to be a more perfect probe: these are completely exposed to the air and feature a 1-metre-long cable; in testing, they performed exceptionally well. However, the SHT45 is quite expensive. So, returning to our original aim, we now wish to share the THS40, which utilises the same packaging technology as the THS45. It offers the same value for money as the THS1, but like the SHT45, it is not waterproof. These sensors are in direct contact with the air, maximising their ability to detect temperature and humidity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIts temperature and humidity performance is slightly inferior to that of the SHT45, but it is entirely sufficient for everyday use. Thanks to the probe’s isolation, the ESP32’s temperature will no longer be an issue.\u003cbr\u003eFurthermore, the combination of ESPHome and Wi-Fi means there is no need to worry about battery drain or slow refresh rates.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn short, I believe this is an interesting, cost-effective, high-performance temperature and humidity sensor, and we invite everyone to explore it with us.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn terms of firmware, we have utilised the same technology as the THS45, with adjustments to the update strategy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is truly exciting to be able to create a temperature and humidity sensor that offers exceptional precision whilst also delivering open-source functionality, localisation and real-time performance.
